Competition Terrain

Holstre-Polli forest is located on Sakala uplands about 12km south from Viljandi. The difference between the highest and lowest point is 55m and in the one hillside 48m. The competition terrain is divided into two main parts.

First, the forested area which has the Holstre–Polli ski trails, these ski trails are one of the difficult trails in Estonia (opinion of the cross country skiers) because there are a few plain cuts and the descends are often curvy and technically complicated. Outside of the trails the forest is impassable for skiers, because of intertwined bushes, fir thicket and the deadfalls.

The second part of the landscape is formed by covering fields and hayfields, where the ski trail network is extremely dense.

Snow sledge trails are made when thaw was and the trails can carry skiers and ski poles. As a matter of fact the snow carries the skiers as well. There are plenty of rough trails and in the trails located in the forest are fallen down small tree pieces, rods and branches. The trails in the semi open areas are flat, wide and very fast.

Controls

Several controls are located close to each other (the distance between the controls can be 50 meters). In addition there are sudden trail reversals and intersections. Therefore it is advisable carefully to monitor the sequence numbers and identification numbers of controls.
