SPORTident electronic punching and timing system will be used. The officials at the start and finish will be there to help you. It is important to deal properly otherwise there is a risk of disqualification. In competition centre will be a demo-control where you can test your SI-card.
NB Each competitor has own SI-card. That is obligatory for the competitors to remember to have their SI-card with them. Please check the number! Starting with the wrong SI-card will result in disqualification.

START (Day 1,2)

Pre-start time is 4 minutes on each day. Four minutes before competitors have started they have to enter in start area and to clear they SI-card by placing it in the clearance unit. After 8 seconds there will be an audible signal and a lamp will light on the unit. The SI-card is then correctly cleared and ready for use in the race.
Two minutes before the start will be SI-card checking. A visible / or audible signal will be given. If the SI-card is "dead" or incorrectly cleared it can be cleared again.
In emergency the competitor can hire a SI-card at the start. A SI-card can be hired for one day. The cost is 50 EEK. The SI-card has to be returned after finishing and paid for to the competition office.

Control descriptions will be printed to the front side of the maps and they are available also in the pre-start area. At the start signal the competitors may cross the start line, take the map and begin their course via the start control.
Start interval is 2 minutes.

START (Day 3)

Chasing start. The start time of the winner in the group is calculated as follows: from the two-days sum will be taken off hours and tens of minutes; others will start according to the defeat. Example: if the two-day sum is 1:46.35 then start time is 6.35. If the defeat to the winner is more than 1 hour then the start will be for 1 hour after the start time of the leader in the group with 1-minute intervals. The participants having not two-days sum will start at the end. The groups DH8, 10, 12TR and 21E have common start.

Competitors are reminded to have the correct SI-card with them and to clear it 4 minutes before the start in same way as days 1 and 2. Approximately 3 minutes before their start time the competitors will be called up and their SI-card checked. After this the competitors take their control descriptions and continue to the start line. The start officials will start the competitors at the correct time. At the start moment the competitors may take their maps and begin their course via the start control.

Control time: I day - 2 hours, II day and III day - 2,5 hours.

START RULES

PUNCHING AT THE CONTROLS

When punching at the controls, by placing the SI-card in the hole on top of the control unit, the competitor will know that it has been registered with a visible and/or audible signal from the electronic control unit. The competitor can punch repeated times at a control, but only the first one will register in the SI-card. If the electronic punch is not registered on the SI-card there will be manual punches on the control mount that can be used in the reserve boxes on the map, R1, R2, R3. For the competitor that is obligatory to go after finishing to the "red table" for checking of manual punching.

PUNCHING RULES

FINISH

On days 1 and 2 the finish time will be taken through a punch at the finish line. On day 3 there will be two different finish lanes. The right lane for the groups DH8, 10, 12TR, 21E and the finish time will be taken through a punch at the finish line. The left lane is for the other groups and the punching will be done through a punch after the finish line. Finish official will judge the finishing order at the finishing line and keep this until the finish punch. The finish time of the finish punch determines the final result order.
After the finish punch the competitor continues through the finish chute to another punch unit, where the information from the SI-card will be "emptied".
Those competitors who have had to use a manual punch have to go to the "red table" after emptying their SI-card, where a manual punching check will be done.
The hired SI-cards have to be returned to a finish official as soon as they have been emptied on the last competition day. The caution money will be returned at the competition office.
